Playful, Fun, Brave

Zooming through the halls in a fierce game of cat and mouse is Prickly Pear, one athletic kitty who is always down for a good play session! This sweet girl ADORES playtime: whether you pull out a feather wand toy or a ball, she’s game! If you’re not around to wave the wand toy around, she will entertain herself with a basket of toys - she loves to take them out of the basket. And if you leave a roll of paper towels around, she considers that a toy! Otherwise, when you come home, you may find that she has “rearranged” things more to her liking. She’s a funny girl!

Prickly Pear is awfully social when it comes to playtime, but she is still working on warming up to her human companions. She is becoming more and more comfortable being her spunky self around her human friends, and continues to make progress through her beloved play sessions (this sweet girl is always up for some playtime)! She will need some cozy places to tuck herself into when she moves into her new home so that she can feel safe and take things slowly. She is such a brave girl!

Prickly Pear has been diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. However, she plays like an active, normal kitten and doesn't show any signs of it affecting her daily activity, as you can tell! She is still young and developing, so she is scheduled for an updated assessment soon. No treatment is indicated right now. For more information, contact APA!

When it comes to her ideal home, Prickly Pear would thrive in an environment with adults, young adults, and older kids who understand that although it will take a while for her to come out of her shell, that doesn’t mean that she dislikes being with her people. Ideally, she would thrive with people who make plenty of time throughout the day for kitty playtime! Her people should be gentle and patient, able to understand her boundaries and respect them on her timeline.

She hasn’t met the resident cats in her foster home yet, but she knows they are there, and she is curious about them.

If you are searching for a spunky, playful kitty to spend your days with, Prickly Pear might be your purr-fect match! She’s a beautiful little brown and orange torbie. So load up on the wand toys (especially her favorite feathery goldfish toy) and contact us today to learn more and to arrange a meet & greet.

All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
